Review: Who I Kissed

 Title: Who I kissed
Author: Janet Gurtler
Source: BookPeople/ Netgalley
Published: Released already

Synopsis:
She Never Thought A Kiss Could Kill. . .
Samantha is new at school and just recently joined the swim team. She’s been flirting with one of her teammates, Zee, who invites her to a party and just as quickly dumps her for another girl. Hurt, but pretending not to care, she turns to his best friend, Alex, and gives him a kiss. And he dies—right in her arms. Alex was allergic to peanuts, and Samantha had eaten a peanut butter sandwich right before the party. She didn’t know. Overnight, Samantha turns into the school pariah and a media sensation explodes. Consumed with guilt, abandoned by her friends, and in jeopardy of losing her swimming scholarship, she will have to find the inner-strength to forgive herself for the tragedy.

Review:

Who I Kissed was different. A good different, but wasn’t what I was expecting. I feel like this book should’ve been more then it was, but it was just eh. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. Who I Kissed didn’t fully capture my attention and I felt that I was just reading it to read it and not being drawn into the story like I should’ve been.

Cover:
I really like the cover, I think its super cute and it has a mysterious air to it. The person out of focus in the background adds something to it, and just makes it seem right. I really like the colors they used on it too. The cover works for the story.

Plot/Writing:
The story wasn’t the best. I found myself getting a little bored; it just didn’t hold my attention as much as I wanted it. The story had a good message and all, but it just wasn’t what I wanted. The writing was exceptional though. She made you feel Sam’s pain and you were in the story, even if it wasn’t that interesting.

Characters:
The only character I am going to talk about is Sam, and well she was interesting. She was going through a lot of pain. Who wouldn’t when they kissed someone and they died. She kind of bothered me. The whole book she was pretty much just wallowing in self pity and it bugged me. I don’t like people like that.

All in All:
I wasn’t in the mood for this book. If you’re looking for a book about self discovery and overcoming hardships, then Who I Kissed is for you. If you’re not, then don’t worry about it!

Review: Wild Ones + Giveaway

**MATURE CONTENT ADVISORY: May not be suitable for younger readers**
Passion as hot as midnight in the South and love as wild as the horses they tame.
Camille “Cami” Hines is the darling daughter of the South’s champion thoroughbred breeder, Jack Hines. She has a pedigree that rivals some of her father’s best horses. Other than feeling a little suffocated at times, Cami thought she was pretty happy with her boyfriend, her life and her future.

But that was before she met Patrick Henley.
“Trick” blurs the lines between what Cami wants and what is expected of her. He’s considered the “help,” which is forbidden fruit as far as her father is concerned, not to mention that Trick would be fired if he ever laid a hand on her. And Trick needs his job. Desperately. His family depends on him.
The heart wants what the heart wants, though, and Trick and Cami are drawn to each other despite the obstacles. At least the ones they know of.

When Trick stumbles upon a note from his father, it triggers a series of revelations that could ruin what he and Cami have worked so hard to overcome. It turns out there’s more to Trick’s presence at the ranch than either of them knew, secrets that could tear them apart.

Can I get some ice, or a fan? Anything to cool me down after this book will do. There is no end to how much I loved this book! M. Leighton did an amazing job with Wild Ones and I devoured it in a very short amount of time. Be advised though, it is an adult book, and if you aren’t over the age of 18 you shouldn’t be reading it. Heck, I shouldn’t even be reading it. Hehe, oops.

Cover:
The cover is gorgeous! It reflects the book perfectly! I mean, why have a book about a super hot guy without a hot guy on the cover! J

Plot/Writing:
What can I say about this book without a major freak out? It was an amazing story and it had my attention 100% of the time. It was a fast paced book and never a dull moment. It was realistic and filled with the kind of romance that no one really dreams of, but secretly wants that hot and steamy aspect of it. Yeah, that’s how this book makes you feel, it was an amazing book with even better writing!

Characters:
CamiandTrick, because that is how I think of them. As a pair, one cute, awesome-filled pair. Cami is gorgeous, smart, passionate, and has a fire lit under her. Trick is the same way, exactly, and they just get along so well ;). He is sooo swoon-worthy and well, I would pick treat.

All in All:
I absolutely adored this book. If you haven’t read then what are you waiting for? Go get it! I’ll even leave you this little link that will take you directly to Amazon to purchase it! Go, give into the peer pressure!

WOW: 10/24/12

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine! It showcases books that we can't wait on to come out!
This week I am waiting on Let the Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger.

Vane Weston should have died in the category five tornado that killed his parents. Instead, he woke up in a pile of rubble with no memories of his past—except one: a beautiful, dark-haired girl standing in the winds. She's swept through his dreams ever since, and he clings to the hope that she's real.
Audra is real, but she isn't human. She's a sylph, an air elemental who can walk on the wind, translate its alluring songs, even twist it into a weapon. She's also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect him at all costs.
When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra has just days to help Vane unlock his memories. And as the storm winds gather, they start to realize the greatest danger might not be the warriors coming to destroy them, but the forbidden romance growing between them.
Set amongst the desert airstreams of Coachella Valley in California, LET THE SKY FALL is about two teenagers broken by their pasts, divided by their futures, and bound by love.
Let the Sky Fall is released on March 5, 2012.

Review: Black City

Author: Elizabeth Richards
Published: November 13, 2012
Source:  Princess Bookie

Synopsis:
A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.
In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.
When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.

Review:
Wow. That was one intense book. From the very first line of the first chapter you were drawn into the story of Ash and Natalie. It was a story about love, truly finding yourself, and standing up for what is right, no matter the consequences. I loved the way this book was written and how you just felt everything that was going on.

Cover:
Whoa, I am pretty sure that anyone who has ever seen the cover has fallen in love with it. It is absolutely gorgeous! I love the colors they used, and how it was a rose exploding. Though I hope no roses were harmed in the making of this cover! ;)

Plot/ Writing:
The writing was really descriptive and you could picture everything that was happening. There were points in the book that confused me and I spent time wondering why those scenes were in the book in the first place, but once you got past those few scenes everything was amazing. Richards creates an amazing world with her writing and I cannot wait to read more.

Characters:
Ash was interesting. He wasn’t entirely human and he wasn’t entirely darkling. He was the best of both worlds, I guess. The story starts off from his POV and I’m pretty sure everyone has read that amazing first chapter. He was a pretty easy to character to get a grip on. He had hot and cold moments. You could never really tell what he was going to do or say next and that was the beauty of Ash’s character.

Natalie is a different story. She has this life set out for her by her mother and one she has to follow because she can’t disobey mommy. Yet she does. I really enjoyed Natalie’s character because she just wants to have a normal life without her mom’s supervision and she goes after that kind of life. J

All in All:
I loved Black City! I cannot wait till everyone gets a chance to read this and fan girl with me about it! J

He makes good girls...bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence has made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:
Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within 10 days.
Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell.
